Weight Loss And The Law Of Attraction

28th July 2008

When using the Law of Attraction to lose weight, its important to understand how you have attracted the weight in the first place, so that you can do the opposite of what you’ve been doing.

It’s common that we associate whatever food we put into our mouths with what our waist bands will look like.

However, I believe that it isn’t the food you eat that causes you to gain weight at all. It’s your beliefs about what you’re eating and your beliefs about your physical body. In other words… its your relationship with your body.

Think about this for a moment…

  • Do you know people who eat lots of food, yet do not put on weight?
  • Do you know people who don’t eat very much food, yet are over weight?

I do!

In fact… I’m one of the one’s who doesn’t eat much food, yet I gain unwanted weight.

As soon as you see this fact in other people as well, your resistance to what food you eat will soften up. If you observe another person eating 3 times as much food as you, and yet they never seem to gain weight, then isn’t it safe to start believing that the extra weight you have isn’t controlled by the food or the amount of food that you eat?

It is not the food that causes your belly to grow. It is the thought you have when you eat the foods. If you think chocolate cake will make you fat, then so it is.

Your body can do two things with the food. It can store it, like a squirrel would store nuts, or it can convert the food into energy and burn it.

As we know, our body responds to our thoughts with great speed. Using placebo’s proved this theory well. Diseases can be eradicated from our bodies simply by using positive thought and taking your attention away from the disease itself.

The quicker you realize that it isn’t the food itself, but its your relationship with the food that is causing you to be over weight - the quicker you can change.

So how do we change?

You give your undivided attention to what it is that you do want.

You can not create something you want by observing or talking about the lack of it.

Thankfully we have our own internal guidance system to tell us when we’re doing something that isn’t in harmony with what we want to create. Your guidance system is constantly communicating to you by your feelings.

When you feel negative emotion of any kind, that’s a signal from your guidance system that you’re moving away from what you want to achieve.

So, if you want to lose weight… use this guidance system when making your decisions. You know that it isn’t the food itself that is causing you to be over weight, but its your relationship with the food. So start allowing your guidance system to make the decisions.

Before you eat that slice of chocolate cake… say to yourself “Guidance system… will eating this slice of cake ultimately bring me more joy or less joy?”.

If your heart sings with excitement and you feel nothing but positive emotions running through you, then the chocolate cake and you are in perfect alignment and you should enjoy it as fully as you can without any worry of any weight gain.

However, if that chocolate cake isn’t in alignment with you, then you will feel a negative feeling. Maybe guilt. You will know if that piece of cake is going to bring you more joy or not!

By following your feelings, you will always be led down the path thats serves you best.

Maybe a salad is more in alignment with you, or a piece of fruit?

The more you practice following your emotions to make your decisions, the more in alignment you will be with your desires.

If you’re anything like me, then the thought of exercising every day isn’t very appealing. If that’s similar to you, then perhaps it will be better for you to have fun on a tennis court with your friends. Or perhaps you enjoy walking? Just remember to use your feelings as a gage before you enter into anything.

The key to all of this is to raise your vibration by feeling good. If you follow your feelings when making the decisions, you’ll automatically raise your vibration because when you follow your feelings, you’re being led down the path that will bring you most joy.

And as you move through your life experiences, you’ll find that there comes a time when you’ve practiced such a good relationship with your body that the chocolate cake is in perfect alignment with yourself! And as you eat it, you will experience the delight of eating such delicious food, instead of feeling guilty about eating it.

Here’s some thoughts I’ve been practicing that make me feel great about my relationship with my body:

My body can burn all of my excess weight effortlessly
I get to choose whether my body stores the food or burns it using my thought
Every time I follow my feelings, I’m losing weight
Every time I feel good, I’m losing weight

It’s incredible how much you can change with your mind. I changed my attitude and turned it into a positive mindset and well I’ve never felt better!

If I can do it you can to!

    Cheers

Thanks for sharing how we can use our emotions as a guide for losing weight. I never thought of the relationship in this manner before. Interesting!

Gary, I couldn’t agree with you more. After reading “The Holographic Universe” I began to really see this based on the studies and observations of people with Multiple Personality Disorder.

For example, one person could have a bee allergy and get stung… then have an adverse reaction with lots of swelling.

Then, if that person ’switched’ to a different personality that was not allergic, the swelling would recede as though the person were - you guessed it - not allergic.

The catch is, if the person then switched back to the allergic personality, the swelling would return!

This has proven to be a real danger when prescribing medication for Multiple Personality Disorder because one personality could require a very large dosage to keep the personality ‘in check’ but then another personality could require very little… which presents the possibility of overdose.

I also really enjoyed Robert Heinlein’s “Stranger in a Strange Land” where the main character, Mike, can just ‘choose’ to not digest toxins (e.g. alcohol) that his body takes in.

So for those who are interested in this topic further, I strongly suggest “The Holographic Universe” and “Stranger In A Strange Land.”

Thanks Chris - that’s a truly amazing story about the bee sting allergy… further proof that what we perceive as truth is our experience.

Amen to Strangers in a Strange Land. That’s brilliant, really. The thoughts at the end of the post are similar to the suggestions used in hypnosis for weight loss, but I had never put it together about Heinlein’s ideas. That is indeed a great inspiration.

Fantastic. I just love the way you put it so simple.” Feel the feelings of your perfect weight, and you will summon it to you”.
You just gave me some new ideas for my website.
    Congratulations.

    Gary,

I have also noticed that when you have a physical issue sometimes it’s useful to step away from it for a while.
If you have focused on the subject, either from the lack-of-it or from the abundance-of-it point of view, and have not had good results, try not thinking about it for a while. Sometimes you get better aligned by taking your mind out of the equation.

This has proved useful to me regarding some skin issues I often have.

Regarding weight loss my constant is this: If I don’t worry about it, I’m ok. If I worry, I get fatter. And if I’m happy (like when in vacation), then I reduce my weight eating twice as much!

Food certainly affects your body but I think your energetic level and your relationship with your body, as you say, have a key role.
