Talk Yourself Into Success

2nd June 2008

After joining my first ever spiritual mentoring group who discussed the Law of Attraction, I began to notice a wonderful pattern emerging…

Those who openly spoke about their goals to the group were getting their goals achieved. Those who did not open up and speak about what they were *trying* to manifest were not achieving much of anything… they were the people who had very little to contribute week after week.

Speaking about your goals and also speaking about what you are in the process of achieving really does have magnificent power. Not only do you get others believing in you and your goals, but you’re taking the first steps into making them tangible and bringing them into the physical.

I believe this is the same “magic” power that Napoleon Hill talks about with writing down your goals with pen and paper. In the first chapter of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon makes it very clear that to achieve your desires, you must write them down onto paper first. It’s this first stage in making your desires tangible that is so important to the physical manifestation.

Most people dismiss this first important step because they cannot see the benefit of doing so. It’s the unseeable, untouchable, non-tangible benefits that you will most certainly receive from doing this step, not a physical benefit.

Let me give you an example of a desire that I’m working on at the moment that has become more and more real by simply speaking about it…

Earlier this year, I made the decision that I wanted to leave beautiful England and live out in Costa Rica. I visited Costa Rica last year and fell in love with the country and so, as I have no ties here in England, I set a goal to move to Costa Rica this year.

Around the time I formed this desire, I told a couple of personal friends only. As time grew on, and as I became more and more excited about the idea, I began telling more and more people about my move and even set a moving date. Within weeks of doing this, I’ve formulated a plan and attracted several wonderful contacts that will help me make this move as easy as it can be.

From being in a position where there were many uncertainties about this move, to speaking about my desires and attracting the right people I need to do it smoothly is where I have seen great benefit in being open with my desire.

Speaking your desires openly really does have a magic effect. Maybe its because others start believing in the idea too, or perhaps its just releasing the idea to the universe. I don’t know for sure, but what I do know is that those who are open about their desires and more likely to achieve them than the one’s who do not.

(For anyone interested in my Costa Rica movement… I’m leaving at the end of August this year and will be staying out there for a minimum of 3 months whilst I see whether its the place that I would like to live or not.)

If you’re looking for somewhere to express your goals and desires to make them public, feel free to let us all know what they are by posting them in a comment in this blog post.

    Dear Gary,

I agree, completely! The most important factor, I think is to say it to yourself, in every possible form: written form, vision board, affirmations, the one we prefer, or all of them!

Sharing it with others too, but only if those others are like-minded, generous people, who will support your goals. If not, it’s better not to share.

The goals I have still not put all my energy to and I expect this writing will help me to do it are:

    - I want to make a good income working independently.

    - I want to have a nice couple.

Thanks Gary for giving me that push and this possibility to say it aloud.

    :) Have a great day!
    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,

    You make an important point…

“Sharing it with others too, but only if those others are like-minded, generous people, who will support your goals. If not, it’s better not to share.”

I agree 100% and should have included something along those lines in my original post.

Sharing with people who will put you down or send negative vibes are not the people you should share with. Its easy to work out whether they will have a positive reaction or not too… just see how you feel when you think about telling them. If you feel good… do it! If not, stay away.

Thanks for sharing your goals, Patricia. Judging from your past performances, I am certain you’ll achieve them! :)

    Speak soon,
    Gary

My dream for some time has been to get my novel published by traditional publisher with an advance and a second book deal.

Along with that, I want to have a life outside cyberspace with like-minded people I can vibrate with in the flesh, perhaps in the Appalachian mountains.

I have the novel written, I’m learning about building a platform, and very soon I will be out of a job, so I am hoping to vibrate with the abundance to keep the household going, with the finances coming from a new direction.

Thank you for offering me a place to say it aloud.

    Gary,

Great blog! I guess sometimes it is hard to tell others your desires because we are afraid that if we don’t reach our goal right away then we will look like a failure.

My goal is to become financially secure through a means that allows me the freedom to enjoy the things that I love to do.

Thanks for your great advice - now I’m off to take some action towards attaining my goal.

    Hi Tbea,

My advice is that if it feels uncomfortable to tell certain people, then that’s your own guidance system telling you that it’s not a good idea. Your guidance system will always let you know whether you’re moving towards something that will please you or not.

However, if you feel afraid of telling people in case it doesn’t come true, then that is still living in fear. Fear is an emotion that you no longer want to vibrate… fear will yield you unwanted results.

When you feel fearful about your desires, you’re moving away from everything you want more of… and moving closer to things you want less of.

I wish you the best of success with your goal. It’s a good one! And it’s most definitely achievable. Vibrate good feelings and you’ll attract the means. Of that, I’m certain.

    Gary

PS. Charlotte - I love your desires too! Especially the life outside cyberspace :)

Keep sending out those positive vibes. You’ll get the inspiration you’ve been looking for.
