Making Decisions That Bring You Riches

12th October 2007

God seems to throw Himself on the side of the individual who knows exactly what he wants, if he is determined to get JUST THAT!

Napoleon Hill pointed out that procrastination is the opposite of decision. Towards the end of Think and Grow Rich, he suggests that you read the book over again and study it. As this is a fairly large book, I can see how most would have been put off by this request and therefore not followed through with it.

Here is something I have observed. If you follow through with everything Napoleon Hill writes in his book and make the decision to perform all of the tasks and requests then there is no way you will not reach the riches you desire. I know this because I followed through with everything just as suggested and received massive breakthroughs. If it wasn’t for Think and Grow Rich – I don’t think I would have ever created this blog and therefore you wouldn’t be reading these words.

A popular self-development forum that I frequent often revealed some interesting facts. Those who re-read Think and Grow Rich and applied everything and studied the book just as suggested – made massive breakthroughs in their lives. Whereas those who did nothing and read the book only once, remained where they were and no major breakthroughs ever occurred.

What type of a person are you? Are you the sort of person who will do what it takes to obtain the riches you desire? Or are you the type of person who wants it all on a silver platter without having to do any of the work?

Decision making is part of our every day life. You will end up making thousands of decisions every day. Some small, and some not so small.

Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark, disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of REACHING DECISIONS PROMPTLY, and of changing these decisions SLOWLY, if, and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decisions, IF AT ALL, very slowly, and of changing these decisions quickly and often.

As the quotation above points out, making the habit of reach decisions promptly is one of the habits of high achievers, which is the focus of today’s discussion.

So how can you begin to make decisions quickly?

Here are a couple of suggestions;

  • Make an affirmation card and place it in many obvious places where you will see it often. Write on the card ‘I make decisions quickly and easily’.
  • Think about it often. The more you can think about making your decisions quickly the more chance you will have of remembering to do so when faced with a decision.
  • Make a decision around something important right now. There is no time like the present, so have a think about something that may have been lingering on and bothering you. Make a decision about it once and for all and stick to your decision.

And lastly… make your own decisions. Never let anyone else influence your decisions unless they are a part of your mastermind group. Remember, everyone has an opinion, but the only opinion that truly matters is your own – regardless of the position that the other person has – it is your opinion that counts!
