How To Develop Persistence

19th November 2007

As an Internet Marketer, I’ve seen countless people set themselves challenges and fail to meet their lofty goals. But why do they fail?

  • Is it the plan that is at fault?
  • Is it the lack mindset they hold?
  • Is it their lack of persistence?

Since acquiring a habit of persistence is connected with the mindset, I firmly believe that acquiring the correct mindset is crucial before taking on any goals. If you get your mindset right first then the correct plan and the right people will be drawn to you through the utilization of the Law of Attraction.

This explains why one person can disclose their plans that created them great fortunes and yet another person attempts to follow the plans and fails. The mindset of the two individuals was different.

The truth is that you don’t need a detailed plan with every step already worked out for you. You do need a good idea of where you want to be and how you intend on getting there, but the smaller details of these plans will fall into place once you’ve practiced a success mindset.

Persistence is just one of the habits you MUST have in order to acquire a success mindset.

Napoleon revealed four steps which are essential to developing a habit of persistence:

There are four simple steps which lead to the habit of PERSISTENCE. They call for no great amount of intelligence, no particular amount of education, and but little time or effort. The necessary steps are:

1. A DEFINITE PURPOSE BACKED BY BURNING DESIRE FOR ITS FULFILLMENT.

2. A DEFINITE PLAN, EXPRESSED IN CONTINUOUS ACTION.

3. A MIND CLOSED TIGHTLY AGAINST ALL NEGATIVE AND DISCOURAGING INFLUENCES, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances.

4. A FRIENDLY ALLIANCE WITH ONE OR MORE PERSONS WHO WILL ENCOURAGE ONE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH BOTH PLAN AND PURPOSE.

Let’s have a look at each of these four statements…

1. A DEFINITE PURPOSE BACKED BY BURNING DESIRE FOR ITS FULFILLMENT. As already discussed in Chapter1: Desire, acquiring a Burning Desire for your intended outcome is the first step towards acquiring riches of any kind. Without such a passionate desire, you will be easily knocked off of your horse at the first hurdle.

2. A DEFINITE PLAN, EXPRESSED IN CONTINUOUS ACTION. Although your definite plan of action will become attracted to you by creating a burning desire to achieve your goal, you do need a solid plan to begin continuous action. This plan should be decided upon with the aid of your mastermind group. Just remember, reach your decisions promptly but change those decisions slowly (if at all).

3. A MIND CLOSED TIGHTLY AGAINST ALL NEGATIVE AND DISCOURAGING INFLUENCES. From a Law of Attraction perspective, if you no longer focus on the negative aspect of a family member or friend, then that part of their personality CANNOT be shown to you. Even if that person had nine personality traits you disliked about them, but had one personality trait that you did enjoy – if you could hold your attention on that one good aspect of that person and make that your dominant vibration around the person then by the Law of Attraction you would only be eligible to be around that person when they are demonstrating that one good aspect of their personality.

4. A FRIENDLY ALLIANCE WITH ONE OR MORE PERSONS WHO WILL ENCOURAGE ONE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH BOTH PLAN AND PURPOSE. Having someone to provide encouragement and hold you accountable to complete regular tasks is vital to your success. You can find this person in your mastermind group. Alternatively you should consider seeking a business coach to help you remain accountable and provide the necessary knowledge that can help you avoid costly mistakes that you may have made if you were going it alone.

Take action today and begin acquiring the mindset of persistence to ensure you succeed in your chosen calling!

    Hey Alex,

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I agree with you about keeping persistent with online business tasks like blog posting etc.

I’ve been guilty of not keeping up with my posting on here occasionally. In business I’ve found its always best to do the things you’re good at and to outsource everything that you’re not so good at or dislike!

    Wishing you much success,
    Gary

Fantastic! TAGR is one of the best books out there…in fact persistence was what I got the most out of it, not the autosuggestion, etc. It turned me from a guy who simply read self-help (looking for an easy way out), and into a guy who got off my ass and did it.

Thanks for highlighting this lesson so well!
    Cheers,

    Hi Albert,

Thanks for leaving a comment! Getting out of the ’self-help consumption’ trap is essential & I’m glad you were able to rise above it with the aid of Persistence!

    Wishing you much success,
