Finding The Very Best Law Of Attraction Teachers Without Author Hopping!
19th December 2008
Over my few years in self development, I’ve came across many teachers of the Law of Attraction and also many students too.
One of the reasons I feel I have been so successful in applying the Law of Attraction into my own life is because of the basic underlying understanding that I have grasped. The one way in which I’ve discovered that you can get the basics completely understood is by remaining constant with one teacher who resonates with you and fully absorb their teaching.
Many students of the Law of Attraction do what I call, “author hopping”. They buy every book they can find on the subject and devour them one by one. From Abraham Hicks to Joe vitale to Wayne Dyer to Louise Hay to Michael Losier and on and on it goes.
From my observation… these people are not gaining the benefit that they could if they completely absorbed the teaching from one teacher. Author hopping can easily cause you more confusion than you started with and so that means no results for you. Not what you want.
My advice is to find a Law of Attraction teacher who resonates deeply with you and stick with them until you are achieving the desired results.
Your feelings are always guiding you towards something that will bring you more joy, and so if you find an teacher that feels good, good things are on the way for you! All you need do is stick with them, understand what they are teaching and then apply it.
So, how do you find a Law of Attraction teacher who resonates with you?
First of all, start doing some background research and see if they are someone you would like to aspire to become like.
Next, pay attention to your feelings. Once you find the right teacher for you, you will feel excited and exhilarated. You will most likely want to start straight away! That passion is a great indicator that you’ve found the right person to learn from. Stick with them, absorb what they are sharing and then apply it.
Results will be yours in a heart beat!

Wow Gary, I love this.
This post heading is such a similar theme to one I posted a week ago. I titled mine “Applying life lessons and attracting the best manifesting mentor into your life.” that it is freaky how we posted similar themes without knowing each other was doing this.
I attracted the opportunity to get one on one coaching from the best mentor for me right now and that is truly exciting. Gary, you actually played a role in that unfolding in the mysterious ways of the universe.
I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying. There is no doubt having various teachers is very useful in life however picking someone to be our own mentor is really crucial I feel.
The distinction I make to myself is a teacher is someone that passes on good information which we can learn from and use in our life. Someone can be a teacher without being a mentor. The difference is someone who is a teacher *and* mentor for ourself would be someone who lives their life in way we really admire and resonates with goals and dreams we have for our own life. They can not only teach us information but can be guides for our own path and they have walked similar roads we are seeking to take in our own unique journey. If you can attract the mentor to be your own coach aswell then wow it gets really exciting. That is how I feel right now. ( imagine for a minute if your favourite teacher is Joe Vitale and you got the chance to get an hour with Joe as your coach , well that is the type of feeling I have now with what I attracted into my life to have an hour consultation with perfect coach for me)
I had teachers I thought were mentors but their own life style was not neccessarily what I would choose to live myself and from that experience I have been able to really get the distinction between a true mentor role and someone that is a teacher.
( a good example is you might have a good maths teacher at school and there are many but the best maths teacher for yourself is someone you learn from the easiest, most enjoyable and quickest way that resonates with your own way of thinking and feeling about life)
I feel sticking with one true mentor is the way to go. Not hopping!! That is like people changing different diet programs. I still listen to other speakers and teachers but I think deeply studying and applying what we learn from one teacher that resonates with us strongly is the best thing for each person.
Great and important posting Gary.
Enjoy your first tropical Christmas day
Dear Gary,
I believe you can add authors, as long as you are constant in applying your tools. If someone can add and add authors and tools, and stick to them, is all very well.
Time-wise, I guess I agree with you in the big picture, though I believe we have the moral obligation (to ourselves) to check on what others say and reinforce our preferences.
This is an Interesting post which made me think; thank you for that!
HI Gary!
Are you a law of attraction teacher as well?
LIke reading your words.
Have a great new year!

I think that one of the reasons why people “author-hop” is due to the fact of their own inner doubt about their mentor. The fear is caused by the fact that they know that no one is perfect or complete. They seek that perfect teaching in the work of a few teachers. There in lies the problem. If they allow themselves to grow with the teacher’s teachings then they would realize that there is no perfect teaching, there is only a teaching perfect for themselves at a particular time.
law of attraction is all about us, inside us.
impressive post I must say. good work. keep it up.
I definitely used to be guilty of author hopping and although I read some wonderful books I also ended up very confused by the different methods and approaches.
When I decided to stop “searching’ and follow my instincts and feelings everything started to come together in an amazing and
joyous way.
Great post Gary
Interesting perception…..
I guess I was “author hopping” for years… When I look back on it - it is exactly the path I needed - I needed to read all these different opinions, processes, perspectives… in order to find what resonated with me.
So I did indeed benefit from all this “hopping” as I was able to get a foothold of what was true for me… I agree with this one - nope that doesn’t work for me - yup I think that is true - nope don’t believe that one bit - well maybe but here is what I feel - I like that and I would add this…
As I gained a foothold of my own perspective I was able to read these authors and discard what I did not agree with and add within the lines what I believe.
6 years ago I was introduced to Abraham Hicks - and they resonated within my entire being! Ahhh I thought - they know what I know!
Today I do still read some authors, not as many, just to get a feel of their perspective which might indeed expand mine!
Happy New Year!
I don’t know much about the law of attraction but did read/hear a bit of Dr. W.D. and wasn’t impressed.
In general, I’m suspicious of approaches to spirituality that say “just do this and you’ll get good stuff/good stuff will happen to you.”
Good things happen to good/spiritually well developed people; bad things only happen to people who don’t subscribe to the law of attraction, Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, the power of positive thinking…. etc.
Hopefully I’m not too far off base here on the law of attraction - maybe it’s not like that at all. But if it’s a results oriented approach to spirituality that pretty much promises happiness and success, I’d say it’s unrealistic except that it’s good for selling books. People like to be told there are guarantees.
I think you are absolutely right - author hopping can be a real distraction from getting down to the business of being happy. It can become an activity in itself. I have found that reading the work of Esther and Jerry Hicks in depth has been more useful than reading lots of different authors in a superficial way.
Hello Gary,
I must say that I enjoy your website as it shows you are very well informed but most of all spiritual.
As for author hopping I believe that one must read as much as possible before deciding on a certain instructor. however this needn’t be confusing if you make notes and decide beforehand what you really want from any given author.
Then I agree that you should trust your feelings or rather your intuition, which is the best guidance there is - provided that it is free of any unresolved issues or wrong beliefs.
Finally, I seriously believe that one must have in himself and draw upon his / her innner strength to succeed in not only finding the right mentor but in attracting whatsoever.
God Bless All,
Thank you
Your words have awakened old memories of zen and rosecruian monographs which I wish I had taken more seriously 30 years ago. It’s time, I’m ready, and I believe you.
Thanks, Jeff Harris
This is true. If you really want the law of attraction worked unto you. You should have one mentor or coach. Multiple mentors with different techniques and beliefs gives you options but at the same time it gives you doubt to the other mentors and to the other beliefs. Unlike if you have one mentor, you only have to think of one thing and focus on that. Good job!
