FAITH Is A State Of Mind
Published in Chapter2: Faith

Napoleon talks about Faith as being a method in which you can “color” thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind.

What he is talking about is the vibration of thought being different when mixing faith with your thoughts. When you have faith in something and you think about it. That thought holds an entirely different vibration than the thought without faith, even though you are thinking about the same thing. It is this process which Napoleon refers to as “coloring” your thoughts.

Faith, Love and Sex are the most powerful of all positive emotions and have influential power over the subconscious mind, enabling you to change the thought into its spiritual equivalent and ultimately bringing about manifestations.

FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmations or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind

Trying to describe faith to someone is one of the most difficult things to accomplish. In fact it is impossible without the person ever experiencing it for themselves. Napoleon described it to be as difficult as explaining the color red to a blind man! My company, Good To Feel Good also feels that experiencing it for yourself is the best and only way you can ever properly learn something new, which is why our company slogan is “Teaching by Example”.

So let’s really put that to the test and teach by example …

A little over two years ago I was working for a large corporation doing an insignificant 9 to 5 day job. I was introduced to Napoleon Hill’s work about 2 months before I quit my job. I took a GIANT LEAP of FAITH and followed my passion which was setting up my own businesses and working for myself. I quit my job, and without having any secured income I had burnt all bridges behind me and left only one option available … to succeed!

Mixed with faith, there was no way I couldn’t succeed!

Here I am, two years later, and have setup two thriving online businesses. I am having endless amounts of fun and am enjoying life to its fullest! I recently took a vacation abroad to Costa Rica and spent two weeks out there – just relaxing in the sun! Faith is what carried me.

I know this stuff works and the best way to acquire faith voluntarily is via repetition of the emotion faith. More on this with my next post…

The Starting Point Of All Miracles
Published in Chapter2: Faith

Autosuggestions is often referred to in Think and Grow Rich. So what exactly is autosuggestion and how can we use it?

Napoleon dedicates an entire chapter to autosuggestion, so I won’t cover it in too much detail right now, however the more commonly used phrase in today’s language is affirmations. The repetition of statements causes the subconscious mind to accept them as truth.

If we repeat a lie over and over again we will eventually accept the lie as truth. We behave the way we do today because of the statements that we’ve been programmed with previously. More to the point, we’ve heard statements before and made our own decisions on whether to accept it as truth or false. Over time, we’ve thought those same thoughts over and over again until they eventually become a belief.

A belief has the word lie in it. And that really is all a belief is! There is no belief - a belief is just a statement that you keep thinking. Once you’ve thought something over and over again, it becomes a habit. Habits can be difficult to change if you don’t know how to properly overcome them. The best way to overcome a habit is to do the opposite. In the case of habitual thinking, instead of not thinking at all, think the opposite of what you don’t want. If you no longer want poverty or many bills to pay, then stop thinking about the bills, stop worrying and giving them any emotion and start thinking about prosperity and give that you full attention.

Thoughts which are mixed with any of the feelings of emotions constitute a “magnetic” force which attracts other similar, or related thoughts.

Often, many of us feel unworthy to have all our hearts desires. Perhaps this is due to the amount of self talk we’ve previously used on ourselves, or perhaps it was inherited from family and friends. Or maybe it was both. Either way, lack of self-confidence is our chief enemy and our greatest weakness.

Luckily for us, Napoleon documented a clear and concise formula for overcoming lack of self-confidence. Using autosuggestion (affirmation) we can convert this weakness into our greatest strength of all … courage. By writing, repeating and memorizing the following statements until they become a part of you - this will be your greatest defense against lack of self-confidence.

Self-Confidence Formula

First. I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.

Second. I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.

Third. I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of SELF-CONFIDENCE.

Fourth. I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I will never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.

Fifth. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.

Sixth. I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full FAITH that it will gradually influence my THOUGHTS and ACTIONS so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person.

A Definition of Faith
Published in Chapter2: Faith

Dictionary.com defines faith as;

  • confidence or trust in a person or thing
  • belief that is not based on proof

This is an accurate representation of what you need to practice and master - believing in the invisible or intangible.

If this is the first time you’re being introduced to acquiring faith in such large quantities then it may, at first glance, appear to be “impossible”. Let me first address this by saying that nothing is impossible and that particular word has no place in our dictionaries. If your mind can conceive it, then this universe has the ability to yield it.

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

Faith is something that requires continuous effort to sustain. Putting in a few minutes of faith here and there isn’t going to cut it. If you desire something so much that you acquire a burning desire for it, then you should have no problem in finding the energy and time to spend developing your faith.

Dream it into being

My favourite way of developing faith is by day dreaming and meditation. When you visualize yourself already in possession of your desired outcome then you are in that moment applying faith. You want to become emotionally involved with your object of desire and really see yourself already enjoying that thing you want.

This should be great fun for you! There’s no need for it to be a strain or a hassle for you to do this. If you are feeling resentment in dreaming about yourself as already having your desire then you should consider asking yourself…

  • Is this something you truly want?
  • Do you feel as if you can have it?
  • Will it bring you more joy?

If you cannot answer those questions with a definite YES then try reaching for something that is a little more within your current range.

An example of this would be for someone who has lived poverty for much of their life making the decision that they will be a millionaire by the end of the year. This is something that is most certainly attainable however the shifting of beliefs for the person may be too big a jump for them to make and so a lesser goal that still stretches their boundaries would be more appropriate. Only you can decide on what goal would be appropriate for you.

Affirmations

You were programmed with beliefs that may or may not serve you by repetition, so it makes perfect sense that in order to change we should use the same method to program ourselves with what we do want. This leads us nicely on to Chapter 3: Autosuggestion.
