3 Ways To Detach From An Outcome

19th June 2008

Beautiful Sunset

Removing your attachment to your desires is crucial to you achieving them. I’m not perfect and have had quite a bit of difficulty in letting go of some of my money related desires.

For example… As an online business owner, I’ve found that I can get way to attached to the amount of online sales I make every day. If sales are low, then I find myself feeling miserable and down about it. And equally, when sales are up, I feel happier about things. This is a perfect example of being too attached to the outcome of a desire.

Having that strong attachment is actually hindering my desire to create more sales, since I’m unable to release the need. Needing only creates more needing. Releasing it and letting it go leaves your vibration pure and positive, allowing your desires to flow freely to you.

The more I practice releasing, the more I’m getting better with detaching from my the outcome of my desires. Here are three ways that I’ve found to be helpful in letting go…

Change Your Focus – This sounds really simple, but it really works very well! When you take your attention away from your desires and put your attention on to something that pleases you, your vibration is going to immediately rise upwards. The best method I’ve found of changing your focus is to play a game where you find a thought that feels better.

Starting from whatever you may be feeling, make it your intention to find thoughts that make you feel better. It can be about your desire, or it can be about anything else. As long as you reach for thoughts that make you feel better, that’s the trick to this game.

In my DVD, Remaining Positive When Bad Stuff Happens, I talk you through this process of finding a thought that feels better by giving you a case study example.

Feel Good – If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, then you should by now realize that I emphasize a lot on feeling good. Why? Because feeling good is glorious! When you feel good, good things are attracted to you. It is that simple.

When you feel good, the attachment to the desire softens up and allows you to move your attention elsewhere. That’s exactly what you want if you find yourself clinging onto your desire with both hands.

Lighten up a little and feel good for the purpose of feeling good. Go and meditate or take a walk in the woods. Read a good book if that makes you feel good. Do anything you can to feel good.

Feeling good is what my Manifest a Miracle system is all about. If you’re looking for a solution that can consistently help you to feel good and manifest your hearts desires, then you may like to have a look at what Manifest a Miracle can offer you. I’ve included 11 feel good processes so no matter where you are or what you’re doing, there will be a process that you can do to make you feel good, now.

Become Present – Becoming present should actually be described as a feel good processes, yet I’ve made it separate because it is quite different to the feel good processes that I talk about. Becoming present isn’t something I can describe in words, you have to experience it to know it.

When you become present and take your attention away from your thoughts, your vibration instantly increases and of course, your attention is no longer on your desires. Anyone can become present in any moment they choose. Most of us are so identified with thoughts that we never realize the power that the present moment can hold.

If you want to learn more about becoming present, you can signup for my newsletter Stillness Within.

So there you have it! Three ways that you can use right now to remove your attention from your desires, so that your vibration increases and allows the desire to materialize into your physical life.

People underestimate the control they can have by intending to “feel good” and by refocusing their mind. So much can be in our control. Glad to see you writing about this topic.

    Gary,
I just discovered your blog and website a few days ago, all I can say is WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!! INSPIRING!!!
To be so young and so full of passion and LOA wisdom is truly a gift and a blessing. Bravo my man… You’ve got a new fan and friend.
Ive been studying LOA for many years.
Consciously creating with LOA for about 12 months. As I’m sure you know, there is a difference.
Todays subject… Ahhhh yes…. Detaching from the outcome. Your right on the money…
    Feeling Good
    Changing your focus
    Remaining Present
All excellent ways to align with our desires and detach from our “neediness”
Needing things to happen in a certain way to feel good.
Feeling good is the goal! not the manifestation…
Its so much easier I’ve found if we can catch our downward spiral of negative inner chatter before it becomes this huge dark cloud over our heads preventing us form perceiving situations or people clearly.
I like to use EFT for releasing negative self/talk and for installing in new positive beleifs. Its an amazing tool. One that I really resonate with.
I’m also reading a book now called
“Feel it real” by Denise Coates
Excellent, practical tool for Feeling Good! Filled with fun games and processes. I’m loving it! Best book I’ve read in a long time for all you LOA junkies, it really delivers the goods in terms of everyday practical ways to apply LOA in your life and rasie your vibe!!!!
Oh…. my other favorite way to raise my vibe, MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC!!!!
Just letting go and getting lost in my favorite music gets me buzzing for hours.
Keep up the awesome work Gary!
I look forward to checking your blog daily.

    Hi Gary,
Thank you so much for your inspiring message. I am applying your teachings every day in my life and in all aspect. I maintain a feel good attitude always although at some point cause by work, fatigue and the people we work with, there’s a tendency to go back to negativity and that’s the time i recall your teaching and try consciously to substitute this with feel good thoughts. One of the liberating feeling is learning to forgive and forget those persons, events, circumstances that gives you a negative feelling. Although at first this is quite difficult, but applying it everyday and releasing those people who hurt you to their highest good, it really gives you that enormous feel good. Its hard to explain, but you’ve got to do it to experience it. May God bless you ETA (Exceedingly, Tremendously, Abundantly) and protect you always. I want you to know that there are lots of people who appreciate what’s your doing. More power. Thanks.

    Thank you John.

I appreciate you very much! Thank you.

I like the fact that you’re using contrasting situations to help get yourself into a feel good. That’s really cool. I find those situations to yield the most growth.

Just the other day we had some drilling going on all throughout the day. Instead of becoming frustrated, I used it as a way to become present in the moment. It shunted me into it more powerfully than normal!

Wishing you much abundance, John. Thanks for reading my blog.

I have two important things to mention as regards detachment, because it is the most difficult part in manifesting our desires.

    1. Faith that once a desire is prayed, or sent out to the Universe, it will be taken care of.

    2. God’s unconditional love is more wonderful than I could ever ask for. And from there, I detach my happiness from the desire that I prayed for.
